Hi friends. As has been well documented, every search engine (all two and a half of them) is basically utter shit due to a combination of AI and terrible incentives on the ends of the companies (all of which are huge AI proponents).
I know the purpose of this is to some extent to get us to use AI to try to find “answers”, and I’ll admit to having tried that too, but the problem is that shit isn’t real, and cannot ever actually give real answers.
The few times I know I can get something akin to reliable information is the new set of wiki.gg’s popping up for certain games, or long term dedicated fansites for games like kingdom hearts.
I’ve tried searching to see if there are people around organising some kind of collective effort to gather more “real” information, but you can imagine how well that went. And I know that sounds a lot like wikipedia, but there are a lot of topics that wikipedia will not cover (I remember there being active edit wars over whether topics are “relevant enough” to be written about in wikipedia and some more niche topics have had to splinter into other sets of wikis that I have no idea how to find at this point either)
I’m also not sure that a wiki format is the correct way to document the information anyway, there’s a lot I’m not sure about, but what I am 100% sure of is that if there are groups out there, I want to know about them, and I think it would be cool if this community could promote these definitive, human curations. Or at the very least if there was a way to pitch in, anything like that.
It frustrates me to no end that I need to post this, that I can’t find even the sources of information that are reliable anymore, that we as a fucking civilization need to recover what we USED TO HAVE YEARS AGO as though it’s some kind of god damn archaeological effort.

Anyway, there are plenty “AI”-generated books on POD already, as well as outright bullshit published in print…
A similar thread came up recently asking for human curated search engines. I don’t have the answers for either, but we need a concerted effort to sift through the hallucinated bloat filling up the internet. And when I say “effort” — it’s not going to be a small task.
Basically, I think we haven’t seen the worst of it yet, and we really, really need a scalable solution if we don’t want to just abandon these interwebs entirely down the road.
